Questions
Find answers to common questions about SI-Logix, the SacroLox® system, and what to expect from SI joint fusion.
About the SI Joint
What is the SI joint?
The sacroiliac (SI) joint connects the lower spine (sacrum) to the pelvis (ilium). You have two SI joints — one on each side — that help transfer weight between your upper body and legs.
What causes SI joint pain?
SI joint pain can result from injury, arthritis, pregnancy-related changes, or general wear and tear. It often presents as pain in the lower back, buttock, or hip area.
How is SI joint pain diagnosed?
Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination, imaging studies, and diagnostic injections directly into the SI joint to confirm it as the source of pain. Only your physician can determine a diagnosis.
Treatment & Surgery
When is surgery considered?
Your doctor may consider SI joint fusion if conservative treatments — such as physical therapy, medications, or injections — have not provided enough relief. Only your doctor can determine the right treatment plan.
What can I expect from the procedure?
The SI-Logix procedure is designed for outpatient settings. Many patients are able to walk the same day and return to light activities within approximately two weeks. Recovery timelines vary by individual.
Is SI joint fusion a major surgery?
SI-Logix is designed as a minimally invasive procedure with a small incision and low-profile instrumentation. It is intended for outpatient settings in many cases. Speak with your physician about what to expect for your specific situation.
About SI-Logix
What makes the SI-Logix system different?
SI-Logix uses a two-implant allograft approach via a posterior, fluoroscopy-guided technique. The system is designed to support procedural reproducibility with pre-sterilized, single-use instrumentation and no reprocessing steps required.
What does "allograft" mean?
An allograft is tissue sourced from a human donor that is processed and sterilized for surgical use. SI-Logix uses cylindrical allograft implants for SI joint stabilization.
Why is fluoroscopy used during the procedure?
Fluoroscopy provides real-time X-ray imaging that helps the surgical team visualize the joint and guide implant placement accurately. The SI-Logix workflow uses a standardized three-view fluoroscopic sequence for reproducible results.
